Sanxay is on the western border of the Vienne in the Poitou Charente between Poitiers and Niort. Saugé is 46°29'14.51" N and 0°00'41.94" W, less than one km west of the Greenwich Meridian.

By car: Saugé is 10 minutes from junction 31 on the the Aquitaine Highway (A10 Autoroute) joining Paris and Bordeaux. Approximate driving time, to or from Channel ports: St Malo 3.5hrs; Caen 4hrs; Le Havre 4.5hrs; Cherbourg 5hrs; Calais 6hrs.
To find us at Saugé leave the A10 at Junction 31 then turn left onto the D611/N11 towards Poitiers. After 3 kms turn left onto the D5 which is signposted to Sanxay. In 7 kms the road bends to the left at a large cross and from here you can see Saugè on the left: in 500 metres, as the road bends to the right descending the hill to the village, turn left and go through the gates to the house. There is plenty of car parking space; a car is recommended for touring this area.
By air: Several low-cost airlines fly to this area, including Ryannair, BMI, Easyjet and Flybe. Local airports include Poitiers (25 mins), La Rochelle (1 hour), Nantes, Limoges, Bordeaux (2 hours). Cars can be hired at all these airports.
By train: The TGV operates its new service from St Pancras to Poitiers, taking just over 5 hours. You can either change at Lille (change platforms) or Paris (change stations).
Arrangements can be made to meet planes or the TGV at Poitiers.
